First potential hurricane?

Family News - August 18 2008

How exciting! Ann and I face our first hurricane. Now designated (as this is written) a Tropical Storm, but watch the news development, Fay is due to pass straight over us in Orlando. Granted, this is a serious thing, not to be underestimated, nor should we neglect to be on guard and respect the risks. But still, life itself is a risk, all the time.

We have prepared, as most around us have. The news media is informing us repeatedly how to be ready. My work (the University of Central Florida) is closed on Tuesday, in case the situation is serious. Borders will be open (they need sales, as do all retailers in the U.S.). But Ann is off on Tuesdays, so we will ride the storm out together.

Should serious difficulties arise, we will do our best to contact Jonathan and let him know how things are. He will be our point of contact for the rest of family, or friends, who wish to know our status. Check our contact information to reach Jonathan by email. Or if you know his cell, you can call him.

How exciting!
